Eduardo Olivar: Merging Art, Technology, and Vision Through Artivive
In the dynamic and often challenging Venezuelan art scene, Eduardo Olivar is carving a unique path. With an aesthetic that blends vintage, psychedelic, and modern elements, Eduardo has embraced augmented reality (AR) as a disruptive tool to transform his art into immersive experiences. Through his journey, Artivive has been a pivotal force, empowering him to push creative boundaries and rise as an innovative voice in Venezuela's artistic landscape.
The Journey of an Artist
Eduardo’s fascination with creativity began in childhood, with a deep-seated passion for crafting, designing, and building. As a graphic designer, he sought to infuse his profession with deeper meaning, letting his subconscious guide him toward creating art that resonates personally and universally.
His first major projects were street murals in Caracas: Caracat and Rokaninos. These vibrant digital collages, printed on vinyl and augmented with Artivive, reflect the urban animals and nature of the city. However, creating his first AR mural in Caracas was a monumental challenge. With limited financial resources, Eduardo reached out to embassies for support but ultimately had to fund the project himself. Through determination, organisation, and disciplined financial planning, he overcame self-doubt and turned his vision into reality with Artivive.
Spooktober Open Call: A Defining Moment
Eduardo’s innovative approach to art recently earned him recognition and appreciation from Artivive’s community through Spooktober Open Call, a Halloween-themed competition celebrating creativity in augmented reality. His winning piece masterfully balanced the symbolism and darkness of the devil with a playful, psychedelic aesthetic, simultaneously challenging viewers to question their own hidden darkness while experiencing a story of redemption.
By using pink tones and characters like bat-winged cats, Eduardo created a piece that was simultaneously eerie and tender—a “dark spectrum” of emotions. The accompanying sound design, ranging from 30 Hz to 2000 Hz, represented a spiritual journey from the underworld to transcendence.
Artivive: A Catalyst for Innovation
Artivive has been a transformative tool in Eduardo’s artistic evolution. By integrating AR, Eduardo has expanded the dimensions of his work, creating multiverses within his images and blending timelessness with space. The platform has allowed him to explore three-dimensionality, challenge viewers’ perceptions, and ignite their imaginations.
Professionally, Artivive has positioned Eduardo as a disruptor in Venezuela’s art scene. Few artists in the country use these cutting-edge communication formats, and Eduardo’s ability to do so has set him apart. However, this innovative approach has also brought challenges, such as finding ways to market his digital art effectively.
Eduardo’s long-term goal is to elevate Venezuelan art on a global stage, as did his inspiration SUPERAMA, whose Artivive-augmented art made it to the moon. By blending mythology, self-knowledge, and technology, he aims to create works that transport viewers into alternate realities, challenge perceptions of time, and inspire emotional growth. He is currently exploring AR applications in sculptural and educational projects, with ambitious plans to create immersive environments that merge sound, plant vibrations, and magical landscapes.
A Message to the World
Through his art, Eduardo Olivar reminds us of the power of embracing change and innovation. His work invites viewers to confront the unknown, explore new paradigms, and find beauty in the intersection of tradition and technology. With Artivive as his partner, Eduardo is not just creating art—he’s building experiences that challenge, inspire, and transform. His journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the boundless possibilities of creative expression in the digital age.
